Tea Tins

Tea tins may not seem significant but they can be one of the best investments you make, especially if you love to try teas of a variety of types or expensive teas. Some purchase these tins as a simple way of storing the tea, or even a decorative way of doing so. However, there are also other benefits associated with proper storage, beyond that of just decoration or good organization. The fact is, tea needs to be kept in an airtight container if you want it to last a long time.

It is best to choose tins that will help to lock the air out and therefore will aid the tea in remaining fresh and good tasting. If the tea is exposed to the air too often, it will weaken or even worse, it may become bitter. Some forms must be protected or they could end up spoiling. More so, if you keep the tea protected, you keep it in its most healthy form, giving you all the nutrients possible. Perhaps the most important reason to use tea tins is simply to keep the flavor perfect.

When using the tins, remember to use those that have a fresh seal of some sort to lock out air as much as possible. You should also keep it away from any source of heat, as this too can cause the tea to deteriorate in quality and freshness. No moisture should be allowed to get into the canister. Choose a tin that has a lock in place lid or a twist top to ensure it is securely positioned. Also, you do not need to store tea in the freezer and in fact you should not to do. As long as you have a tin, the tea is fine stored at room temperature.

Some of the decorative tea tins on the market will not provide enough protection for the tea. It is important to choose well-made canisters that are designed to tightly close. If they do so, you could keep tea fresh for as long as eight to twelve months using this method. A great looking tin can be found that can accomplish all of these goals.
